Milford High School

Milford Volleyball put together an outstanding day, capturing the Flushing Tournament Championship after going unbeaten through bracket play. The Mavericks opened pool play by splitting with Midland, 23-25, 25-19, before sweeping Goodrich 25-12, 25-11 and Owosso 25-13, 25-20. Milford turned it up another level in bracket play, sweeping all three opponents. The Mavericks defeated Waverly 25-9, 25-16 in the quarterfinals and Lapeer 25-21, 25-11 in the semifinals before taking down host Flushing 25-13, 25-18 to claim the tournament championship. Lexa Pierson led a balanced Milford attack with an impressive 69 kills while hitting .468, along with 11 aces and 39 digs. Amelia Kurtz directed the offense with 80 assists and added 13 aces, while Ashlyn Charder finished with 25 kills, including eight kills while hitting .364 in the championship match. Ellaenna Michelin contributed 12 kills and five blocks, and Kyler Madison anchored the defense with 24 digs and nine aces.
